Lights, CAMERA, Action....Let 'em Roll!
Day One
Arrive Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia and drive to Abbeville. (travel time 2 ½ hours)
Tour the town square and Opera House that were both used during the filming of Sleeping with the Enemy. Drop in the Old Bank Building used at the Chamber of Commerce offices to receive more information on Abbeville's movie history.
Enjoy an evening in a small Southern town in one of Abbeville's bed and breakfast inns.
Day Two
Travel southeast on South Carolina's National Heritage Corridor into the town of Edgefield where the Disney movie That Darn Cat was filmed in 1995. Drop by the Freshwater Coast Discovery Center to learn more of the unique history of Edgefield.
To travel the Heritage Corridor, take Highway 72 from Abbeville to Greenwood, then Highway 25 from Greenwood to Edgefield. From Edgefield-Blackville, travel Highway 25 to Highway 19 leads to Aiken. From Aiken, follow Highway 78 into Blackville.
Follow the Heritage Corridor signs on Highway 78 into the town of Blackville and have lunch at Miller's Bread Basket and bottle the "fountain of youth" at Healing Springs.
while in Blackville, stop by the Rivers, Rails and Crossroads Museum to pick up a piece of local culture and learn about the history of Barnwell County.
Follow Highway 78 until you reach I-95 at St. George.
You will then take I-95 South to exit 33 and follow Highway 17 to Highway 21 into Beaufort. (travel time 3 hours)
Day Three
Explore the shops of Bay Street in downtown Beaufort.
Take a drive on Highway 82 north to Lady's Island and see the beautiful marshlands of this area which have been used for the backdrops of such films as Forrest Gump and Prince of Tides.
A visit to Hunting Island State Park, located in Highway 21, will put you in the setting of GI Jane and The Jungle Book.
Return that evening for dinner at one of Beaufort's fine restaurants.
Day Four
Drive north on Highway 17 to Charleston. On your way, visit Middleton Plantation located on Highway 61, which was used during the filming of Scarlett. (travel time 2 hours)
Take a quick drive across the Cooper River Bridge, where the bridge scene in Die Hard with A Vengeance was filmed, to the town of Mount Pleasant.
While in Mount Pleasant visit Boone Hall Plantation, one of the most recognizable movie settings, it was used during North & South as well as Scarlett.
Enjoy an evening in historic downtown Charleston.
Day Five
Drive north on I-95 to Darlington, home to the Darlington Motor Speedway and setting for the 1990 Tom Cruise film Days of Thunder. (travel time 2 ½ hours)
Spend the afternoon at the raceway and exploring the sites of the area.
Take I-20 west to Columbia. (travel time 1 ½ hours)
Spend the evening in one of Columbia's many restaurants.
Day Six
Depart from Columbia.
