An evening of savory foods, traditional Gullah praise house and plantation spirituals and the sage wisdom and comedy of the Gullah storyteller. The setting is reminiscent of a gathering of Gullah families after a bountiful harvest. “Honner nee fah jine wid we fah lauf, fah sing en git a good belly ful” (You all come join with us to laugh, to sing and eat until your stomach is full). Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. Advance tickets may be purchased at Gullah Cuisine.

If you think your chili is the best around, prove it! Come out to the Palladium Society's 12th Annual Chili Cook-Off on February 27 and gain your bragging rights. Enjoy live entertainment and a variety of chili recipes. Local celebrity judges will be present and prizes will be available for the winners of the chili cook-off. A wine and food event like no other, this festival provides guests the opportunity to meet and get a taste of some of the country’s best chefs, authors and wine professionals. Superstar chef and author Daniel Boulud who will cook at an already sold-out dinner on Saturday night during the festival! Guests can educate their palates with Southern cuisine and the Lowcountry’s unique food styles, heritage and recipes at one of the 50+ events throughout the weekend. Highlights include the Celebration of Charleston Chefs Opening Night Party, the Restaurant Dine-Around, Bubbles & Sweets, the King Street Sip & Stroll, the Lowcountry Gospel Brunch and the BBQ, Blues, & Brew. An expanded Culinary Village takes over Marion Square Park in downtown Charleston with two grand tasting tents, culinary competitions, cooking demonstrations, chef tastings and more. The festival was recognized by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of the Top 20 Events for the month of February 2008.

Come experience a “Taste of the Backcountry” - South Carolina as it was in the early 1800s at the Price House. We are pleased to invite you to join us for our annual festival, Taste of the Backcountry. This event features free evaluations of your historic items as well as demonstrations of hearth cooking, weaving, egg dyeing, live critters, and guided tours of The Price House and slave cabin, as well as period music. Taste of the Backcountry is Saturday, April 3, 2010, 11 am - 4 pm. All activities and evaluations are included in the admission price. BBQ, concessions and baked goods will be for sale, so come and make a day of it! Picnics are permitted.
