The Sumter County Museum interprets the history of Old Sumter District through exhibits, living history and special programming. Located in the c. 1916 Williams-Brice House, the museum offers living history activities in the Carolina Backcountry Homestead (not wheelchair accessible), two c. 1812 buildings and six reconstructed buildings that depict the Old South. The museum's archives, located in the c. 1917 Old Carnegie Library, houses extensive genealogical records and personal papers. The museum's Heritage Education Center contains exhibits and a multi-media center.
