Columbia Marionette Theatre
One of the premiere children's theatres in South Carolina, the mission of this theater is to expose children and adults throughout the state to the long-standing tradition and artistry of marionette puppetry.
The theatre can accomodate as many as 250 children and adults per performance and is completely accessible to the physically challenged. Puppets, ranging from Tinkerbelle's 12 inches to Zeus' 5 feet, appear on a 30-foot stage. All productions are created entirely in house -- the script is written, the puppets are made, the soundtrack is recorded and the sets are painted. With six full time staff members, each production takes several months to create from start to finish. Productions range from folk tales to science and historical fiction.
