Garrison Weekend

300 State Park RD
Summerville, SC 29485

Description

The village of Dorchester once played a key role in the defensive strategy of Charleston and South Carolina during the French and Indian and Revolutionary wars. Two hundred fifty years later, the fort still stands as a reminder of the colony’s fear of attack during the French and Indian War. Experience this setting again as colonial-period military units bring the village back to life with activities and demonstrations throughout the day. You can also visit on-site archaeological excavations and talk with archaeologists about what their latest discoveries tell us about the history of the site.
