Carolina native, Davis Love III embraces a tradition of Lowcountry character in this design. The Love course incorporates the recreated ruins of an old plantation home along holes 3 through 7. Wide open fairways and generous landing areas set the stage for an unforgettable round of golf.

One of Tom Fazio's finest works, Osprey Point golf course at Kiaway Island Golf Resort is ranked among America's top 75 resort courses. Fazio had help, including four natural lakes, saltwater marsh, and dense forests of pine, palmetto, live oak and magnolia. Water comes into play on 15 holes. Best Hole: No. 9, a 461-yard par-4 dogleg left with a forced carry off the tee over a lagoon that lets you cut off as much as you dare. Traps and the lagoon also guard the green.

Built in 1925, Summerville's Miler Country Club is a step back in time. Short (6,037 yards) but tight with Bermuda fairways and Champion bermuda greens, the course was originally planned as a Pinehurst-like resort and still has that feel. Best Hole: No. 18, a par-5 with a lake cording a layup tee shot, then a 220-yard shot around a dogleg right to an elevated, bunkered green.

One of the most visually exciting and challenging courses in America, King's North features some of the most dramatic and unique holes in all of golf. The par-5, 6th hole -- nicknamed "The Gambler" -- features an island fairway which offers golfers a "risk-reward" short-cut to the green for a chance at eagle, but the two precise shots required bring to mind Kenny Rogers' song: "You've got to know when to hold 'em; Know when to fold 'em; Know when to walk away; and Know when to run." The 18th hole, nicknamed "The Bull's-eye" by Golf Magazine, has over 40 sandtraps guarding either side of the fairway, and the green reaches out into a lake offering a number of very tempting pin placements.

This course's narrow fairways are lined with mature live oak trees. The terrain is flat and easy to walk. The greens are small, slightly undulating, elevated, and well bunkered by both sand and grass bunkers. Water hazards come into play on holes #2 and #9.
