SC Hwy. 11 crosses the Mountain Bridge Wilderness and Recreation Area, which offers close proximity to Caesars Head State Park, Jones Gap State Park, Raven Cliff Falls and the Middle Saluda River, one of South Carolina's most scenic mountain rivers.
Along this scenic route, you'll enjoy visiting South Carolina's beautiful mountain waterfalls including Whitewater Falls with a total drop of 900 feet and six of the state's magnificent State Parks.
Don't miss the 1.5-mile hike to Station Cove Falls at Oconee Station State Historic Site where you'll find yourself surrounded by wonderful fall colors. The Symmes Chapel, or "Pretty Place," sits on top of Standing Stone Mountain and features a breathtaking view. Don't be surprised if a wedding is taking place when you stop by.
Peak Foliage
The peak period for fall foliage in South Carolina's Upcountry occurs the 2nd-4th weeks in October as a general rule. Peak foliage for the remainder of the state occurs late October through early November. Visit South Carolina this fall for spectacular fall scenery!
