Discover the Sandy Shores of South Carolina

Day One

  • Fly into the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and drive to Hilton Head Island. (travel time 45-minutes)
  • Spend the afternoon on one of the islands golf courses, tennis facilities, or participate in one of the many selections of water sports available on the island.
  • In the evening, enjoy a dinner cruise or choose from one of the many seafood restaurants on the island.

Day Two

  • Drive Highway 278 to 170 then 21 to Hunting Island State Park. (travel time 1 hour)
  • Spend the afternoon with a guided tour of the island, or swimming in the surf, or just enjoying the natural beauty of Hunting Islands beach.
  • Spend the evening camping or rent one of the cabins, located within walking distance of the ocean.

Day Three

  • Drive north on Highway 17 and then take Highway 174 to Edisto Island. (travel time 1 ½ hours)
  • Spend the afternoon crabbing or canoeing the Edisto River (please see Outdoor Adventure section).
  • In the evening stay on the island at Edisto State Park or enjoy a room at a local Island resort.

Day Four

  • Drive north on Highway 17 to the resort islands of Kiawah, Seabrook or Wild Dunes near Charleston. (travel time 30 minutes to 1 hour)
  • Spend an afternoon enjoying the fine amenities of these upscale resorts, or enjoy guided tours of the coastal marshlands by resort naturalists.
  • For an evening of culture take a drive into the historic city of Charleston.

Day Five

  • Continue to drive north on Highway 17 to Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. (travel time 2 hours)
  • Charter a boat along the fine beaches of the Grand Strand for an afternoon of deep sea fishing, sail boating or just relaxing on the South Carolina water.
  • Enjoy an evening full of activities by having dinner at one of the many restaurants in Myrtle Beach followed by a live show.
