In August 2012, the world’s greatest golfers will compete in the 94th PGA Championship for the final major title of the year. South Carolina is proud to host its first ever major championship on what has been called the Toughest Course in America, the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

Since 1916, golf’s premier professionals have been competing for the PGA Championship’s Wanamaker Trophy. In recent years, PGA Championship has averaged 96 of the top 100 golfers in the world competing each year, making it the strongest field in golf. Past Champions span the greatest names of golf over 90 years, including: Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, and current world #1, Martin Kaymer.

The 2012 PGA Championship Tournament is poised to be South Carolina’s biggest sporting and social event since the 1991 Ryder Cup.
