The congregation was organized in 1803 and tradition states a log structure was built as a place of worship about that same time, three miles from its present site. A second wooden structure on this site was torn down and rebuilt five miles away as Macedonia Church serving the African-American community. In 1903, a third church was constructed and it burned in 1992 and was replaced with the present church a year later. The cemetery contains graves dating to the mid-1800s.
