The premier event of its kind in the country, the 67th Annual Spring Festival of Houses and Gardens, March 20-April 19, 2014, offers guests rare access into some of Charleston’s finest private houses and gardens in the city's renowned historic district during peak blooming season. Kicking off the Festival’s first weekend of festivities is the 11th annual Charleston Antiques Show, March 21-23, 2014, with the elegant opening night Preview Party on March 20. This impressive combination of the Festival and the Antiques Show offers guests an exciting calendar of events that celebrate the history, architecture, culture and cuisine of Charleston.
The cornerstone of the spring Festival are the daily house and garden tours. This series of award-winning tours provide an extraordinary opportunity for guests to go inside the private houses and gardens of some of America's most beautiful residences, some dating to the 18th century. Each educational walking tour highlights historic architecture from various periods as well as exquisite private gardens.
In addition to the distinctive house and garden tours, the Festival offers guests the opportunity to take advantage of the many impressive special events scheduled throughout the month. Guests can learn about Charleston’s rich history, either by land or by sea, during events like the Morning History Walk or the Harbor of History Boat Cruise. During the Festival’s popular concert series, guests can experience period music, from Beethoven to Bluegrass, in intimate and historic settings. The Food for Thought Luncheon Lectures showcases experts educating guests on Charleston related topics, such as, ironwork, horticulture or cuisine. The Festival also offers more ways guests can educate their palates, the Picnic & Oyster Roast provides guests with a true Lowcountry culinary experience and during the Wine, Spirit or Beer Tastings guests will cultivate their palates and enlighten their minds.
