Visitors to Lake Thurmond now have the opportunity to try out the latest water sport craze — stand up paddle boarding.

A new McCormick-area business is offering SUP boards, as well as kayaks, for rent. And you don’t have to hassle with hauling board or boat yourself.

Earth Connection Outfitters will deliver your rental wherever you want to paddle, whether it’s an area campground, lake landing or local waterway.

The outfitter introduced stand up paddle boarding to the Little River Outdoor Adventure Area a few months ago at the McCormick PaddleMack kayaking event at Baker Creek State Park

Located on the shores of Lake Thurmond, the park offers easy access to the 71,000-acre reservoir, one of the largest and most popular recreational lakes in the Southeast. Hickory Knob State Park also overlooks the lake with two boating docks and 21 waterfront campsites.

SUP board rentals are $30 for a full day. If you’re staying at one of the parks or other campgrounds in the area and want to keep your rental during your entire stay, it’s just $20 for each additional day.

Earth Connection also offers kayaks rentals for $25 a day, $15 for each additional day. Tandem boats run $35 a day, $20 for additional days. All rentals include paddles and life preservers.
