Plan a trip to the Upstate Dec. 8 for some pre-holiday hiking and down home picking. The arts and outdoors will come together at Table Rock State Park during this year’s final Music on the Mountain event.

Bring your fiddle, banjo, mandolin or guitar and join local musicians for an all-day jam session at the historic Table Rock Lodge. If you don’t play an acoustic instrument, you can clap your hands and tap your toes.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., is free and open to anyone who enjoys good bluegrass music. Donations will be accepted to cover the cost of refreshments. Folding chairs are recommended as seating is limited.

Table Rock offers both cabins and campsites, so make a weekend of it and do a little fishing, canoeing or hiking in the park’s 3,083 acres of mountain wilderness. It’s a great way to relax and clear your head before the holiday madness begins.
