S.C. Jazz Festival coming up in Cheraw

Cheraw’s Dizzy Gillespie Park marks the birthplace of the jazz great with a historical marker and a sculpture garden.
There also is a statue of Gillespie on the
Cheraw Town Green on Market Street.
The
South Carolina Jazz Festival will be held in downtown Cheraw Oct. 14-16.
More than 20 regional musical artists from the region will perform. The festival will include a Bebop Parade, Jazz Crawls, a Fine Arts & Crafts exhibition, a Birthday Party for Dizzy, kids’ art activities, Madonnari-Southern Style Chalk Competition, a Jazz Mass, and student artwork.
