During your next trip to South Carolina, be sure to carve out time to visit Pee Dee Country. No trip would be complete with a stop in Dillon. Situated on Interstate 95 along the South Carolina/North Carolina border, there's a lot to see and do in the town.

While South of the Border, a Mexican-themed mini resort, captures the attention of many tourists traveling through Dillon along I-95, there are many other interesting sites in the area. Dillon is home to a number of museums and buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The Dillon County Theatre is among them. The theater is one of the few remaining examples of Spanish Colonial architecture in the state.

The Dillon County Museum, considered by many to be one of the best small-town museums, is another must-visit attraction. The museum offers a glimpse into life at the turn of the 20th century in Dillon County through historical documents, military memorabilia and historical and agricultural artifacts. While you're there, be sure to drop by the Dillon County Courthouse and J.W. Dillon House Museum. Both buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and provide a great historical perspective on the area.

If you're tired and hungry after all your travels, you'll find an elegant retreat at the Columns Bed and Breakfast Inn. The restored 1903 Greek Revival Antebellum mansion is in the heart of Dillon's historic district and provides spacious guest suites and other amenities wrapped in Southern charm.

Southern charm isn't the only thing you'll find in Dillon. Apparently the town is also a haven for love birds. In fact, Dillon has been become known as the "Wedding Capital of the East" and is home to the famous Dillon Marriage Chapel where, in its heyday, nearly 7,000 marriages took place each year. Today, about 500 couples marry at the chapel annually. If you're bitten by the love bug during your visit to Dillon, without a wedding dress, don't worry! The Chapel offers gowns in sizes 2-28. In fact, there are several wedding packages available to cover just about any need you might have.

Whether you're looking to get hitched, take in history or enjoy first-class amenties at a quaint bed and breakfast, Dillon is the place to see! For more information on Dillon County, go to www.peedeetourism.com.
