First Flush Festival

Wadmalaw Island, SC
Did you know that the Lowcountry is home to America’s only tea garden? The Charleston Tea Plantation, which produces American Classic Tea, covers 127 acres on Wadmalaw Island. Visitors can get a first-hand look at how tea is made during tea factory tours. There’s also a trolley that provides rides around the tea fields.
This is the perfect time of year to check out what’s brewing at the tea garden. On May 16, the plantation will host the First Flush FesTEAval. First Flush celebrates the first tea harvest of the year and includes music, food and all the iced tea you can drink.
First Flush will be held Sunday, May 16 from 10 a.m. 6 p.m. Tickets costs between $10-$25. See www.charlestonteaplantation.com for more information or call (843) 559-0383.
