Three Pines -- What a view!

If you’re looking for rest, relaxation and beautiful mountain views wrapped in upscale Southern charm and hospitality, look no further than Three Pines View. The awesome boutique lodge is located about an hour outside of Greenville in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Three Pines is an Oconee County gem that sparkles like the personalities of its owners, Diane and Steve Hayes. When we arrived at Three Pines, Diane greeted us and took us on a tour of the lodge. We started with a look at the impeccably decorated rooms that each come with a fireplace and private balcony that provides stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition to the luxurious rooms,Three Pines also features a large, fully equipped kitchen, cozy common area, a dining room, huge screened-in porch, outdoor Jacuzzi and a cute little one-room cottage that can be used for meditation, reading or simple quiet time. Boat rentals are also available for guests who are interested in enjoying nearby Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee.

As if gorgeous accommodations and lake recreation isn’t enough, Three Pines View also offers its guests a host of healthy, homegrown organic menu items. During our stay, Chef Steve whipped up a delicious breakfast of baby organic spinach, eggs Benedict with a creamy hollandaise sauce served over toasted English muffins, a side of bacon and orange cranberry muffins. Breakfast also included a medley of fruit hand-picked from the Hayes' garden.

Organically grown produce isn't the only 'green' feature of the lodge. The Hayes’ incorporated many environmentally friendly features into Three Pines View when they built it a year ago. Those features include a drip irrigation system that uses cistern water for the gardens, tankless water heaters, composting of kitchen and yard waste, energy saving lighting throughout the lodge and much more.

Three Pines View is the perfect place to unwind, rest and refresh after a day of boating, hiking or taking in the natural beauty of Oconee County. While our summer stay was wonderful, I can only imagine how spectacular a fall trip would be. Three Pines View is located in Salem, just off of scenic Highway 11.
