A visit to Westminster is a must-do for outdoor adventurers and those who enjoy history. Westminster, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, was founded in the 1890s as a railroad water stop. Today Westminster is home to more than 100 homes with unique architecture that dates back to the late 1800s.

Most of these picturesque homes, located in the Isundega and Retreat streets area of town, have been held in the same family for many generations. Drive through many of Westminister’s historic and well-preserved neighborhoods and you're likely to see images that could be found in your favorite home and garden magazine.

No trip to Westminster would be complete without a stroll down Old Main Street. There you will find specialty and antique shops and outfitter stores. Westminster is just minutes away from the Chatooga River -- a popular spot for whitewater rafting adventures. Westiminter also is home to the S.C. Apple Festival. The annual event celebrates the start of apple harvesting season in South Carolina's largest apple producing area: Oconee County. The event attracts thousands in September.
