Visions of snakes and gators

Christmas does not normally conjure up images of alligators, turtles or lizards, and the Edisto Serpentarium usually doesn’t bring to mind anything Christmas-y.

But there still is time to see how reptiles and the holidays come together at this one-of-a-kind attraction in Edisto Island. Friday and Saturday nights through the end of the year, visitors will be treated to marshmallow roasts, hot chocolate and lights, lights, lights from 6 to 9 p.m.

Admission is $14 for adults 13 and older; $13 for seniors; $10 for children 4-12; and free for children 3 and younger. The Serpentarium offers discounts for AAA members, active military and for folks bringing food for the animals.

For Christmas, you also can donate a new toy to the park’s Toys for Joy program. Edisto Serpentarium, (843) 869-1171, 1374 S.C. Highway 174.
