If you’ve ever shopped for shirts, caps and other golf gear or souvenirs in the spring during the RBC Heritage
, South Carolina’s only annual PGA Tour event, it will come as no surprise to learn Golf World thinks shopping at the resort’s golf shops is one of the best such experiences in the game.
The weekly magazine confirmed that, including Sea Pines’
golf-shop facilities in its 2012 list of “100 Best Golf Shops,” recognizing the resort’s “continuing retail and service excellence.” And that’s not just during the Heritage: Vacationing golfers who play at Harbour Town
, one of the nation’s top golf destinations, usually want a remembrance of their time on Pete Dye’s 1969 gem to take with them, too.
“This accolade for our pro shop reinforces our ongoing commitment to providing sterling service to both our members and resort guests,” says Cary Corbitt, Sea Pines’ director of sports. In addition to its well-stocked shop for golf equipment and apparel, “we offer a total world-class golf experience from start to finish,” Corbitt says.
In addition to Harbour Town, Sea Pines also has two other courses: the George Cobb/Mark McCumber-designed Ocean Course and the redesigned Heron Point By Pete Dye. Non-golf entertainment includes 23 clay tennis courts, eco-tours, water sports, fine and casual dining, 14 miles of bike/walking trails, horseback riding and five miles of beaches.
The pro shops operate out of the Harbour Town and Heron Point/Ocean Course clubhouses year-round, and from the Heritage’s huge merchandise tent, located at the club grounds’ entrance, during the tournament each April.
