If there are two things Charleston is noted for among visitors, they are the Port City’s wonderful selection of great restaurants, and its equally varied and high-quality golf experiences. So it was only a matter of time before the two combined to offer a number of day-long, play-and-eat experiences.

That time is now. It's Charleston Golf Week and Restaurant Week, which began Jan. 8 and continues through Jan. 19. Visitors to this website will find a wide choice of golf outings at special prices, as well as golf-dining-accommodations packages to intrigue and satisfy golfers and gourmands of all stripes.

Here are a few examples, per the website, ranging in price from $85-$210 per person (double occupancy):

One night at Charleston’s Francis Marion Hotel at 387 King Street in the heart of the city’s historic district while playing a round at either Coosaw Creek Country Club or Dunes West Golf Club, and dining at either Virginia’s on King or the Old Towne Grill & Seafood;

One night at the King Charles Inn, 237 Meeting Street, plus one round at Kiawah Island Resort’s Oak Point Golf Club, and a meal at Hall’s Chophouse;

And one night in a condominium at Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms, one round at Wild Dunes Resort Links Course, and dining at the Sea Island Grill.

In each case, taxes on dining are extra, meals are based on fixed, pre-set menus, and alcohol is not included. Hotel stays in most cases are weekdays. If none of the deals suit, the website offers the option to “build your own package.”

The website also offers packages at Kiawah Island Resort, staying either at The Villas or The Sanctuary, the island’s five-star hotel, and rounds of golf at any of the resort’s five courses (including the world-famous Ocean Course), with options for dinner for two at any of several island restaurants (Kiawah packages are not limited to Jan. 8-19, ending in February).

The site also has deals for golf only, including such courses as Shadowmoss Plantation, Coosaw Creek, Dunes West, Charleston National Country Club, the Links at Stono Ferry, Wild Dunes (Harbor Course), Legend Oaks Plantation and the Golf Club at Wescott and RiverTowne Country Club. Prices vary and range from $60 for two players to $180 for a foursome. Besides golf, several of the courses include extras such as range balls, complimentary sleeves of balls, beverages, course-logo towels and discounts for pro shop merchandise.

The site lists telephone contacts for each course, hotel and/or package, and has a link to view restaurant menus. For more information or to book tee times and accommodations, click here.
