Upstate beauty: Links O’ Tryon offering rock-bottom prices via online booking

Greenville-based golf course architect Tom Jackson has built a reputation for excellence with such S.C. courses as The Cliffs at Glassy (Greenville) and Mount Vintage (North Augusta), but few of his designs can match the beauty – and strategic challenges of his Links O’ Tryon, located north of Spartanburg in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

And through an online offer via ClickIt Golf, players this fall can enjoy the course, with its views of seven area mountains and stunning vistas, for as little as $20 a round – in some cases a savings of $15 or more.

In addition, Links O’ Tryon – located at 11250 New Cut Road in Campobello, near the North Carolina state line – has recently emerged from a greens renovation, which resurfaced the course’s putting surfaces with Diamond Zoysia, a lush grass that is resistant to South Carolina’s hot summers as well providing an extremely smooth putting surface year-round. The course reopened for business on Aug. 9.

The 7,150-yard, par-72 layout features gently rolling fairways and sweeping elevation changes, grass and sand bunkers, extensive water hazards and fieldstone walls and bridges, plus four sets of tees for playability. The setting is far removed from traffic and outside noise, making it a peaceful golf getaway destination. Since its opening in 1992-93, Links O’ Tryon has earned a number of “best of” awards, and rewards sound thinking by players.

Already a great deal with prices between $30 (weekdays) and $40 (weekends), the online deals allow players to save $5-$15 per round, and weekday twilight prices are as low as $20. For directions and information, call (864) 468-4961 or go to For online-only discount coupons and prices, click here.
