With summer fast coming to a close, a number of golf courses around South Carolina are offering discounted rounds for players anxious to have one final golf fling. And not just in the state’s coastal resorts: in fact, some of the best deals are available in the Upstate
in general and the Anderson-Pendleton-Clemson area
, which offers discounts on golf rounds across the nation and in several cities in South Carolina, is promoting its “End of Summer Golf Sale” at five courses owned by the Anderson Golf Group (AGG), with savings of up to 50 percent on rounds played both during the week and on weekends. Rounds must be purchased online and are good through Oct. 31.
For example: Anderson Country Club
, a 6,402-yard, par-71 course built in 1918 by Thomas Bendelow – who also built Atlanta’s East Lake Country Club, home of the FedEx Cup Playoffs finals, and Chicago’s Medinah Club – offers rounds at $20 Monday-Friday and $25 weekends. Boscobel Golf and Country Club
in Pendleton (6,500 yards, par 71) is a favorite of the Clemson golf team
for its slick, undulating bent-grass greens; the special rates start at $25 weekdays, $32 weekends.
Other courses in the AGG packages are Anderson’s Cobb’s Glen
(built in 1976 by well-know architect George Cobb), offering 30 percent off regular rates ($25 and $32); Falcon’s Lair
in Walhalla (6,866 yards, par 72), $20 and $25; and Pickens Country Club
(6,220 yards, par 72), also $20 and $25, or 50 percent off regular rates.
To receive the special rates, visit www.clickitgolf.com
, click on South Carolina on the map of the U.S., then on any of the five AGG courses’ logos to find the discounted rates. The site also has online deals at other Upstate courses and in Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Santee and Hilton Head.
