Remembering Scott: Hannon Memorial returns to Myrtlewood Country Club

Myrtlewood Golf Club has been the home for 22 years to the Scott Hannon Memorial Golf Tournament, an event organized by Vic Hannon, one of South Carolina’s top amateur players, in memory of his late son, who was killed in an auto accident en route home from East Carolina University.

The annual tournament – a 36-hole, four-man captain’s choice format – returns to Myrtlewood the weekend of June 20-23, and the event has gotten bigger and better throughout its lifetime. Things kick off on June 20, a Thursday, with a welcome reception and include a Friday night cookout and Saturday dinner and awards banquet at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort.

Also part of the package is three nights lodging at Myrtlewood Villas, one round of golf on both the Pine Hills and Palmetto courses (tournament play is in four flights), a Nike tournament golf shirt and a raffle/silent auction. Cost of the weekend is $375 with lodging, $275 without for those with their own accommodations.

Scott Hannon was his dad’s favorite playing partner, and Vic Hannon says his son would appreciate being remembered by a fun golf outing staged at one of his favorite playing sites, the Grand Strand.
