Bargain golf: Winter rates now available at Waterford Golf Club

Despite temperatures that still can get into the mid-60s, it’s officially winter in South Carolina. And at Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill, and other courses on the area’s Carolina Trail, that means discount prices for players who are deterred by a little chilly weather.

Waterford, designed by PGA Tour legend Hale Irwin and the lone Carolina Trail course in South Carolina, is offering “Winter Sale” prices now through March 31, 2013, for 18 holes with cart for $29 – any time, seven days a week. That compares with normal walk-in rates between $47 and $62 – a savings of between $18 and $33 – and even beats usual on-line purchase rates of $37-$52.

And what a terrific course to enjoy as the leaves fall and the morning air turns crisp. Located at 1900 Clubhouse Road in Rock Hill, just minutes from I-77 and the Dave Lyle Boulevard exit, Waterford is built along the banks of the Catawba River and surrounded by hardwood forests. Only a few holes run parallel to each other, making for an “escape to nature” feeling for players.

The only “catch”: These winter-sale rates are available online only. Go to www.clickitgolf.com or www.charlottegolf.com to purchase.
