Bring your friends and save: Cobblestone Park offers golf for e-mail addresses

Watch enough television, and sooner or later you’ll see the commercial by one of the leading satellite TV outfits which offers savings on your monthly bill if you sign up friends for the same service. Through February, Columbia’s Cobblestone Park Golf Club has a similar deal: bring a friend’s e-mail and save on golf.

For each e-mail address of a fellow golfer – a member of your regular weekly group, for instance – shared with Cobblestone Park, players get 50 percent off their next round at the course near Blythewood, one of the Columbia area’s favorites and voted one of the best courses in the South Carolina Midlands. Best of all, if you send or bring to the club three e-mail addresses, an entire foursome can play for half price.

It’s just the latest in a series of offers by Cobblestone Park to introduce the formerly private club, which now offers limited daily-fee play, to public-access golfers, while building a potential clientele list. The deal is good for rounds played through Feb. 28 – which, given the recent unseasonably warm and clear weather in Columbia, could be a perfect time to discover this scenic 27-hole layout that serves as home to the University of South Carolina men’s and women’s golf teams, and features rolling terrain and old-growth forests.

Coupons for the deal are available on the Cobblestone Park website and must be presented at check-in time. Regulars presenting three friends’ e-mail addresses are eligible for the half-price foursome package.
