New face at Cobblestone Park: Tony Branham named head professional
Posted 11/19/2012 11:36:00 AM
The owners of
Blythewood’s Cobblestone Park Golf Club
have found a veteran of
Midlands
golf to be their new head professional. He’s Tony Branham, a
Columbia
native who previously worked at
Columbia’s Spring Valley Country Club
and
Lexington’s Golden Hills Golf Club
.
Most recently, Branham (whose brother Will is head professional at the private Country Club of Lexington) was teaching professional at
Hilton Head Island’s The Golf Club at Indigo Run
. During his
Hilton Head
tenure, he qualified to compete in the
PGA Tour’s RBC Heritage Classic
at
Harbour Town Golf Links
.
He brings experience in club fitting and launch-monitor applications to the instructional portion of his new job. Cobblestone officials say Branham will be involved in the public-access club’s operations and golf instruction.
Cobblestone Park, located at Exit 27 off Interstate 77, offers 27 holes and is host to the
University of South Carolina’s men’s and women’s golf teams
as well as its members, vacationers and visiting players from around the state. Long-time professional Tom Graber remains on board as the club’s general manager.
