A bit of Charleston has come to Greenville’s Main Street.

Maverick Southern Kitchens opened Charleston Cooks! at 200 N. Main St. on July 2. I browsed through the shop about a week after it opened, and it has anything you might want for cooking, from cookbooks, knives, bowls and casseroles, pots and pans, food processors, mandolins, corkscrews and every cool kitchen gadget you can imagine.

I especially loved the apron selection, especially a cute blue and green one on a mannequin by the front door. It’s enough to turn me into an apron wearer.

Beginning July 26, the store will be offering cooking classes in the store’s model kitchens. Some will be demonstration classes, where you watch the instructor and get a tasting of the foods prepared, and others will be participation classes where those attending help cook the meal and then eat it. The large kitchen will seat 30. Go here for a schedule of classes.

Greenville is not the only South Carolina city getting Charleston Cooks! The store will open in Columbia in the fall near the intersection of Devine Street and Garners Ferry Road.

In Charleston, the kitchen shop is next to Slightly North of Broad, one of four Maverick restaurants.
