Chef and cookbook author Gerry Garvin, known as G Garvin on the
Cooking Channel’s Roadtrip with G Garvin, visited Charleston recently for an episode that aired June 8-16.
But if you missed that episode, it will reair in July and August.
The episode shows Garvin visiting the
Glass Onion, where Chef Chris Stewart cooked a pork belly dish. (
Stewart and co-owner, Chef Sarah O’Kelley, with their mixture of Lowcountry and New Orleans cooking using local ingredients, have brought national attention to the Glass Onion. They also shared a
quail recipe.
Garvin also visited
Cakes by Kasarda, where Tammy Karsada made a groomsmen cake shaped like a beer bucket. Her
recipe for Chocolate Moist Cake is here, and it looks pretty simple for a cake from scratch.
He also went with Shane and Morgan Ziegler, owners of
Barrier Island Eco Tours to pick oysters and empty the blue crab traps before feasting on a
Lowcountry Boil.
Catch the show on the Cooking Channel on July 10 or July 15 at 1 a.m. or 9 p.m.; on July 20 at 5:30 p.m.; on July 21 at 6 p.m.; and on Aug. 21 at 1 a.m. or 9 p.m.
