Barbecue cooking class coming to State Farmer’s Market

If you want to learn the secrets of great barbecue from championship pit masters, you may want to sign up for the Carolina Outdoor Cooking BBQ Class at the South Carolina State Farmer’s Market in West Columbia on Saturday, Feb. 15.

The class is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will cover the techniques and art of preparing Carolina pulled pork, Texas beef brisket, Memphis style pork ribs, barbecue sauces and rubs. The fee of $275 per person includes lunch and barbecue samplings all day.

Carolina Outdoor Cooking was founded by Garland and Rebecca Hudgins of Columbia in 2010 to offer barbecue classes for beginners to seasoned pit masters. The two also compete as their own barbecue team, Big GQ.
