Hall’s Chophouse takes top awards in two surveys

Posted 12/16/2013 2:40:00 PM

Hall’s Chophouse in Charleston has landed near the top of two national dining surveys recently.

It is the fourth best restaurant in America, according to a survey of diners by OpenTable.com, and it is the sixth-place winner in travel site TripAdvisor’s 2013 Travelers’ Choice Fine-Dining Restaurant awards.

Hall’s Chophouse is owned by the Hall family -- Jeanne and Bill Hall Sr. and sons Tommy and Billy. The executive chef is Matthew Niessner, and the specialty, of course, is steaks, but seafood, quail and duck also are on the menu.

In the OpenTable.com 2013 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Best Restaurants in America, other South Carolina restaurants are: Charleston Grill and Peninsula Grill in Charleston and Sea Blue Wine Bar and Restaurant in North Myrtle Beach.

Only the top 10 winners were ranked.

OpenTable is an online restaurant reservations system. The Top 100 Best Restaurants awards were based on more than 5 million reviews submitted by OpenTable diners for more than 19,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. If your favorite restaurant didn’t make the list, it could be because it doesn’t use OpenTable for reservations.

TripAdvisor named its top 10 fine dining restaurants in the U.S. from reviews from TripAdvisor users.
