My mother’s chicken and dumplings was one of my favorite meals growing up. Unfortunately, I never learned to make them the way she did, and the few times I’ve tried, they just didn’t taste as good as hers.
Barbara Whitley, the extraordinary baker of Crady’s
, has a solution. She’s offering a class to teach how to make her mother’s chicken and dumplings.
Those who sign up will learn to make the dumplings and the chicken soup and get to take what they make home with them. You’ll also be served a light meal while the chicken and dumplings are cooking.
The class is Dec. 17, and the cost is $40. Call (843) 248-3321 for more details or to sign up.
If you haven’t tried Crady’s, it’s a great spot for lunch, with soups, salads, quiche and sandwiches. Be sure to save room for dessert because they are spectacular.
Crady’s generally only opens for dinner when Theatre of the Republic
has a performance.
Whitley, her husband Les and daughter Barbara are the owners. Crady was Barbara Whitley’s maiden name, and the restaurant was named as a tribute to her mother, Najgy Crady.
