Taste best foods of The Vista at Vista La Vista

Sample some of the best foods in Columbia at Viva La Vista from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

This is the sixth year of the festival that showcases the restaurants of the Congaree Vista in downtown Columbia.

Get a taste of the specialties of Cupcake, Carolina Ale House, Jason’s DeliLonghorn Steakhouse, Motor SupplyRuth’s Chris Steak House, Salsarita’sSaki Tumi, Blue Marlin, TakoSushiRita’s Italian House, Wild Wings, Wet Willie’sThe Peanut Man, Liberty Taproom and Pearlz.

Conquest Brewery of Columbia will be selling craft beer for $5. Other beer is available for $5. Wines will be available with a ticket to the wine garden.

Music is also a big part of Viva La Vista, with reggae band The Wailers headlining this year. Seven local and regional bands also will be performing.

If a few hours outdoors in famously hot Columbia is too much for you, you can get a VIP pass to the Vista Room at the Blue Marlin. VIPs can go to a meet-and-greet with The Wailers. You can get cocktails and tailgating food and watch football. VIP tickets are $65 in advance.

Entrance to Viva La Vista is $10 in advance or $12 at the gates. Vendors will accept cash for food and beverage sales, and ATMs will be available. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

The Vista area was once a warehouse and industrial area. It’s gotten new life with more than 60 restaurants and bars as well as art galleries and specialty shops.
