Motor Supply Co. Bistro salutes local farmers

Without our farmers, we wouldn’t enjoy the great local produce, meats and other food products we enjoy in South Carolina, and Motor Supply Company Bistro in Columbia salutes them during Summer Harvest Week.

Since Chef Tim Peters and the Motor Supply staff change the menu almost daily to take advantage of what’s available from local organic or near-organic farms, they have a close relationship with the farmers who grow the food they serve.

Some of the farmers honored at this month's Meet the Farmer Happy Hour included:

Caw Caw Creek Farm in St. Matthews, where Emile De Felice raises pigs on pasture land.

City Roots Urban Farm in Columbia, a small urban farm that produces a huge variety of vegetables.

Cottle Strawberry Farm in Hopkins that also has a number of roadside stands around Columbia.

Cowasee Farms in Elgin.

Doko Farm in Blythewood, where Amanda and Joe Jones raise heritage poultry, lambs and pork.

Floral and Hardy Farm in Lexington, a specialty cut flower farm.

Freshly Grown Farms of Columbia, a hydroponic farm where salad greens are grown.

Gnome Grown Mushrooms in Columbia, that grows organic mushrooms and other vegetables.

Trail Ridge Farms & Dairy of Aiken, a goat dairy farm.

Wil-Moore Farms of Lugoff, where pasture-raised poultry and beef are raised.
