For the best in American cuisine, seven South Carolina restaurants are among the nation’s top 100, according to Open Table diners.

On the list are Charleston Grill, FIG, The Macintosh and Peninsula Grill in Charleston, Devereaux’s in Greenville; Hampton’s in Sumter; and The Parson’s Table in Little River.

If your favorite didn’t make the list, it could be because it chooses not to use Open Table, which is an online reservations system. Diners are asked to rate the restaurants they visit, and that feedback is used to create Diners' Choice lists. Open Table said the American cuisine list is based on reviews for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
