Fall book sales offer great chance to find deals

The close of summer means book sale season across South Carolina. It’s a great time to snag deals on children’s books, cookbooks and the latest best sellers for your entire family.
The book sales kicked off with Greenville Literacy Association’s Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale
on Aug. 18. The sale included more than 130,000 books in over 130 categories.
The sales continue across the state next month at Waterfront Park in Beaufort. The Beaufort Friends Annual Book Sale
begins on Friday, Sept. 28, and is co-sponsored by Beaufort Friends of the Library and the city of Beaufort. It is open to the public Friday from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
Friends of the Charleston County Library
will hold its annual Big Book Sale Oct. 12-14. About 60,000 books and 300 volunteers will fill the Omar Shrine Auditorium (176 Patriots Point Road) for the sale. It’s free and open to the public. Hours: Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday is half price day.
Richland County’s Public Library Fall Book Sale
is Oct. 13 at the Richland County Public Library Operations Center, 130 Lancewood Road (off Bush River Road across from Dutch Square.) The sale is open to the public on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Friends of the York County Library
will hold its fall sale Oct. 26-27. More than 10,000 books plus DVDs, VHS tapes, audiobooks and paperbacks will line the tables at First ARP Church gymnasium, 201 E. White St., Rock Hill. The sale is open to the public Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m for half price day. All book sale proceeds benefit York County Library programs.
All sales are offering preview nights and special hours for members.
