Looking for a last-minute getaway that is sure to entertain the kids? Pack up the family and head to South Carolina’s lowcountry
this weekend for the 57th Annual Beaufort Water Festival
Your children can cast their lines for prizes at the Toad Fish Tournament
on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Waterfront Park. The event is free and for ages 12 and younger. Just be sure to pack their rods and tackle. Bait will be provided and it’s almost a guaranteed catch since, as locals know, if nothing else is biting, the Toad Fish will.
Then take them on a tour of real shrimp boats and a Coast Guard Cutter
The popular Beaufort
festival starts today and runs through Sunday, July 22. Events for this weekend include a raft race, a dragon boat exhibition, arts and crafts market
, a teen dance for ages 13-17, and a free children’s day on Sunday with rides, games and prizes - plenty to keep your family entertained in the South Carolina sun.
