A date with the daughter in downtown Greenville

If you are headed to downtown Greenville and are looking for something fun to do with the kids, why not sign them up for an art class? And you can take it too.

Daly Designs on Main Street offers afternoon and evening classes for all ages. I signed my daughter up for a class after school one day and decided I’d take the class with her. We made a mommy/daughter date of it and went to dinner too.

In the Daly Designs classroom we made nautical fabric banners under the tutelage of teacher Ashley Ruff. We cut and glued fabric along string and then painted our creations. Ruff teaches the children’s classes on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at Daly Designs at 3 and 4 p.m. Classes are $18 each and include projects like zipper bracelets, stamp making, button monograms and button flowers. During the holidays, classes are aimed at gifts kids can give their families.

If parents are looking for a little time alone to walk in Falls Park or check out a new restaurant, the classes are a great way to occupy little ones. Daly Designs also offers a full schedule of adult classes.

While our banners dried, we headed up the street to Greenville’s new burger joint, Grill Marks. It’s owned by the team behind the successful restaurant Larkin’s on the River and is located beside Soby’s, across from the Westin Poinsett on Main Street. They have a great kids’ menu offering chicken, burgers and mac ’n cheese and have Thomas Creek Brewery Root Beer on tap. Kids meals even come in a Frisbee. Gluten free options are all over the menu, making it a great place for a gluten-free family to enjoy a nice meal on the town.

If you’re looking for family entertainment, there is never a shortage of things to do in downtown Greenville. To sign up for art classes call (864) 325-4445 or visit the Daly Designs website at dalydesigns.com.
