If you’re headed to Myrtle Beach this season and are looking for some energetic entertainment with lots of eye candy, check out the new Legends in Concert show. The production, now in its 16th year along the Grand Strand, just opened a new theater next to Planet Hollywood at Broadway at the Beach.

The family-friendly show had its grand opening this week, and Insider Editor Chrysti Shain took her mom and daughter along to check it out:

First of all, the production is top-notch. The house band, billed as the best band in Myrtle Beach, lives up to its name. And the dancers are a real highlight, with lots of elaborate costumes and terrific moves. The impersonators all interacted with the audience, encouraging people to sing along to the standards.

The show opens with Elvis Presley singing five of his biggest hits, and ladies lined up during “Love Me Tender” to get a kiss. Dolly Parton coaxed an audience member to the stage for one of her numbers, and the Blues Brothers did a television sing-along.

Little Richard joked a lot with the audience between his musical numbers, and show emcee Jay Leno kept things current with his monologue and jokes.

The most memorable act for us was Michael Jackson, whose dance moves were spot on and fluid. The songs were fun and more familiar to the younger folks in the audience. My daughter even moonwalked across the parking lot as we left.

Legends has been a mainstay in the Myrtle Beach theater world, proving that people are willing and interested in seeing a well-put-together show of familiar artists and songs. Click here to watch videos of performers and for more information.
