will be glittering this week with the glamour, fashion and fun of more than 40 runway shows as it celebrates Charleston Fashion Week
Founded in 2007, Charleston Fashion Week has quickly become one of the most anticipated fashion events in the country, featuring high-end runway shows, swanky parties, and hip entertainment. Events start tonight (Tuesday.)
One of the most exciting parts of Fashion Week is the Emerging Designer Competition. Chosen from a pool of 130 applicants, 16 semifinalists will show their Fall 2011 collections throughout the week. At Saturday’s Fashion Finale, four finalists will compete for the title of Emerging Designer. It’s a great chance to see the creativity of some young, up-and-coming designers from around the country.
You also will want to save the date for Fashion Week’s Spring Bridal Show on Saturday, when local, regional and national boutiques will present their most beautiful bridal gowns. The flurry of tulle, taffeta and lace will begin at 10:30 a.m. with complimentary cocktails, and tastings from local caterers and bakeries, followed by runway shows from 11:45 a.m to 2 p.m.
Another exciting event this year gives fashionistas the chance to come face to face with a designer who has had a huge influence on fashion. Janie Bryant might not be a household name but she is the genius costume designer behind the body hugging dresses and handsome suits on the HBO series Mad Men. She will be signing her book The Fashion File at the Style Lounge pre-party on Saturday night.
