The ultimate cool: Blues at Greenville’s Main Street Fridays

Posted 8/2/2012 6:23:00 AM

Blues and summer go together like ice in a tall glass of tea. The one makes the other a much more lovely experience.

On Aug. 10, Hoodoo Hounds will grace the crowd at Greenville’s weekly Main Street Fridays
with the smooth, cool flavor that has kept the Clemson-based band going for the past six years. The group deftly plays blues classics from the likes of B.B. King and Sonny Boy Williamson, but with a sound that has been described as “Muddy Waters with a dash of Led Zepplin.” The group has put together a trove of originals, some of which can be found on its recently released eponymous album.

Main Street Fridays takes place every week from March until late September at Hyatt Plaza in downtown Greenville. With an annual attendance of 45,000 it is safe to say that the quality of jazz, blues, oldies and soul music keeps people coming back. With the concert starting at 5:30 p.m. there will be plenty of time afterward to walk over to one of the many restaurants nearby, including TRIO, a fun café that is known for it’s wood-fired pizzas.
