Family Circle Names Simpsonville Top Town

Family Circle Magazine recently named Simpsonville as one of its 2010 Top Ten Best Towns for Families.

Simpsonville is located in the Upstate region of South Carolina. It sprung up at the intersection of the Old Stage Road and the Cherokee Trail. Along with Mauldin and Fountain Inn, Simpsonville is part of the so-called “Golden Strip.” The name was given to the road connecting the three cities in hopes that it would encourage prosperity in the region. Decades later, the moniker is proving prophetic; the Golden Strip is one of the fastest growing regions in the Southeastern United States.

But you don’t have to pack up and move to enjoy Simpsonville’s charms. It’s a great place for a day trip and would make a peaceful home base for exploring Greenville.

Visit the Simpsonville Chamber of Commerce to download a brochure that will lead you on a walking tour of the town's historic spots. The guide will help you to see the layers of history in Simpsonville.

Family Circle also mentions Freedom Weekend Aloft, an annual event that raises money for local charities and offers hot air balloon rides and races, concerts, an art show and more. The four-day event is held in the spring.
