Women tend to group together with similar interests. I don’t know if it’s science, societal influences or what, but no matter if a woman is the CEO of a Fortune 500 company or a household (or both!), there is a good chance that she spends some of her free time pouring over design and fashion magazines, plotting a crafting or decorating project, trying out a fun new recipe.
These interests will come together Feb. 8-10 at the
Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center for
SHE Columbia, a three-day celebration of “all things woman.” The conference will focus on six aspects of lifestyle that women tend to share interest in:
Style: Fashion shows, makeovers, and tips from local celebrities like
Anne Postic (aka The Shop Tart) and
ABC 25’s Alicia Barnes.
Crave: Cooking demonstrations and tastings with
Motor Supply Company,
Rosewood Market, and more.
Entertain: Discussions and workshops on décor, party tips, menus and floral arrangements with enthusiasts and experts like
Making It Grow’s Amanda McNulty, Joyce Hansell, the Coupon-A-Holic, and me.
Create: Make your own unique arts and crafts with Crafty Feast.
Live: Health and fitness presentations with Palmetto Health.
Care: Donate or purchase gently used fashion accessories at
Revente’s Last Call, which will have a booth on the upper level, and bring five canned goods for
Harvest Hope Food Bank to the event on any day and receive $2 off of one adult ticket.
Did you notice something a little bit funny in the list above? Yes, my name is on there. One of the great things about this conference is that the organizers have reached out to local women-owned lifestyle brands, such as
Make Me Over, Eb!,
The Shop Tart,
That Teowanna!, and my own
CamilleMaurice.com. I was honored when asked to moderate a panel of interior designers who will discuss ways to bring your personality and flair into your home décor.
I never thought I would be standing up at an event that also features a performance by an American Idol star, but it’s true! American Idol’s Elise Testone will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the SHE opening night party. Doesn’t that sound fun? The party also will include a fashion show and lip print readings by Ariana Lighteningstorm, who is one of only six certified lipsologists in the world.
This is going to be a fun weekend of fellowship, learning and fun. For more information, please visit
