“Wine” Down with the works of Andrew Thomas

Recently I went to Wine Down on Main in Columbia with some friends to celebrate a birthday. For months I have passed by the eclectic little wine bar and wondered what was inside, and when I finally went in I was especially charmed by the art collection that donned the walls.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, Wine Down will feature a special event to present the collective works of artist Andrew Thomas, a local artist who is featured on Saatchi Online, a digital platform known for featuring some of the best up-and-coming artists around. The collection at that will be shown on Main Street centers around the German term senschust, which describes a feeling of unfulfilled nostalgia that has no rational foundation. Thomas’ works attempt to capture an uncertain desperation associated with that term without explaining it.

During the reception, wine and beer will be sold outside of the establishment at a special table, and guests will be encouraged to linger and discuss. What a wonderful excuse to peruse and sip on a crisp December evening!
